If you are waiting for your insurance company to organise a builder to repair your house, chances are you will be waiting a while. The recent Queensland floods have many insurance companies flat out trying to process claims while others have just said you’re not covered.
The scale of the problem is too big for their contractors to deal with and if you want actions at your house sooner rather than later you will be better off finding your own builder. I contacted quite a few Insurance companies to offer assistance but only Suncorp and AAMI had the decency to reply.
In many cases you will find that if you have organised a builder and the case assessment manager has agreed to a sum, they will pay you and let you organise it from there.
